Rival 300 Mouse Review

Rival 300 Mouse Review

We are those people, and today we are reviewing the Rival 300 mouse from Steel Series!

The Rival 300 Mouse is plain to the eyes, which frankly is great. It’s ergonomic, it gets the job done, and does so without flashy nobs and too many buttons. While some people will lament the fact that there are so few buttons on the mouse itself, for a casual gamer such as myself, this is a great addition to my hardware library.

Tracking is always my top priority when choosing a mouse, and the Rival 300 tracks like no mouse I have ever used before. And don’t forget, we are not talking about a $150+ mouse here – we are simply looking at a sub $100 product that performs far above it’s price point.

On top of great tracking, the quality of the mouse is also something to be admired and spoken too. While so many mice – even expensive ones – have terrible button quality, the feedback on clicks with the Steel Series Rival 300 is fantastic. My only issue – minor issue – was that the face buttons did not feel as responsive as the side buttons.

My issue is more with my own grip than the mouse itself, but when using it outside gaming, I often would click the side buttons when browsing the web, causing me to jump back the previous page. It’s a minor nuisance, but if you plan to use this mouse more for regular internet use, you might want to pick a different option, especially if you choose a finger grip over a palm grip.

Overall, the Rival 300 mouse is a great addition to anyone’s gaming setup, and the perfect option between the cheaper and less impressive Rival 100 and the more expensive, yet to be released Rival 700!

June 2016 Loot Crate Review - Dystopia

June 2016 Loot Crate Review - Dystopia

Loot Pin June 2016

The Loot Pin in this box looks amazing. This rocket / missile pin will look great no matter where you use it. If you go to the Pins section of the Loot Crate page, you will be able to redeem your pin to unlock special wallpaper and ringtons from the mobile title Fallout Shelter. If you’ve never played Fallout Shelter, go grab that as well. It is a fantastic game on mobile that keeps you in the Fallout universe even when away from your console. Again, I must reiterate that I love that Loot Crate includes quality pins in their boxes, and not those cheap things. Good on you Loot Crate, keep it up!

Bioshock Infinite Key

I love when Loot Crate includes quality items that can actually serve a real purpose in my everyday life. Sure, I love collecting Pop figures and the Dorbz figures (see below), but getting something that I can actually use each and every day is always nice. The Bioshock Infinite key that came in June’s box is fantastic, and I can actually take it to any local hardware store and get it keyed for my house, my car, or whatever else. Loot Crate, if you are reading this…please include keys a few times a year. I know they aren’t useful for everyone, but if I could unlock my house with a sweet Legend of Zelda key, or a 1 UP mushroom key, that would be amazing. Let’s make it happen!

Fallout Dorbz Figure

I’m a huge fan of Fallout 4 and have been clocking a lot of time with the game ever since Bethesda sent over our review copy a few weeks ahead of launch. Unfortunately, I don’t have a lot of Fallout 4 merchandise – outside of my Steel Series equipment – so to get a Dorbz figure in this months box was awesome, and if you watched our video, it has been nominated as one of the Top 5 Items from June. That video will go live later next week. I like Dorbz way more than Pop Figures, but regardless of what type of figure it was, Fallout merchandise is always a big hit in the Roffel home.

Matrix 300 Piece Puzzle

If you watch the video you will see that I’m not a huge fan of puzzles; however, my wife is, and although I would say this was my second least favorite item in this months Crate, at least someone in my house will get something out of this item.

Robocop tShirt

I really enjoy the quality of the Loot Crate tshirts as they are unrivaled in the subscription box service. Although I wouldn’t call myself a huge Robocop fan, this tshirt is outstanding. The graphic on the front is very detailed and tasteful, and I wouldn’t ever think twice about putting this on in the morning. Outside of the Dorbz figure, this is easily one of the best items in this months box. Even for people who aren’t Robocop fans – myself included – the tshirt is still interesting enough to wear!

Conclusion

There was one other item in this months box that I did not take a picture of, and that was for two reasons. One, I really disliked the item. Please understand that my dislike for the item has nothing to do with Loot Crate or how they choose their items. I’ve seen many unboxing videos from fans around the globe who LOVE the Terminator 2 steel artwork. I’m just not one of them. The second reason for not taking a picture was that my camera died. Had it been a different item, I would call that unfortunate timing. For this item, I’m ok with it.

That being said, the June Loot Crate is a wonderful box, and is one of the best boxes I have yet received from the Loot Crate company (Loot Crate, Loot Gaming included here). With the exception of the steel artwork, the items were all above par for me. If you bought this box, I think you will get tremendous value from it. The June 2016 Loot Crate – Dystopia, gets a wonderful 8.5/10 from us!

More Thoughts From Me #3: A Mighty Disappointment

More Thoughts From Me #3: A Mighty Disappointment

I’m not a huge Mega Man fan. I do think Mega Man is cool. I’ve played a few of his games and I use to have the Mega Man Collection for Gamecube. I don’t go gonzo for every Mega Man game that comes out though. And then there’s Mighty No. 9, I honestly don’t get the hype behind this game. Mighty No. 9 looks like someone decided to create a generic Mega Man clone. The main character, in fact, looks so generic that one has to wonder if anyone really designed him or if the artist just drew Mega Man and slightly changed him.

As for Mighty No. 9’s gameplay, there’s nothing there that we haven’t seen a million times in Mega Man games. Your main character travels through a level, beats a boss, grabs a power up, rinse and repeat. If you really like this type of gameplay, why not just go back and play an old Mega Man game? I don’t get why anyone would want to play Mighty No. 9.

For those people who do want to play Mighty No. 9, they are out of luck (so far). The game keeps getting delayed. This week, Mighty No. 9 received its third delay announcement. I saw someone make an argument that this delay was a good thing. The person said that most developers would just release a broken game and, by delaying it, the developer was trying to avoid that. Sure, thats true, there are a lot of third party developers that would release a broken game. There are real problems with these delays though. First of all, the longer the developer delays the game, the less interest there will be in the final product. And the second thing to consider is: what if, after all this time and these delays, the game comes out and its still broken? Is anything actually being fixed by the developer? How would the public know?

Mighty No. 9 is one of those games that is popular for some unknown reason. There are people that want the game badly. At least, I think there are still people that want it! I know that I hear people complain every time the game is delayed. I just don’t get why though.

So, if you are looking forward to Mighty No. 9, please tell me why in the comments. Also, how do you feel about the constant delays? If you’re not interested, why not? Am I right about how generic the game looks? No matter how you feel, let me know.

I’ll be back next week with another topic. Take care.

LEGO Marvel Avengers Hits Retail

LEGO Marvel Avengers Hits Retail

From the press release,

LEGO Marvel’s Avengers is the first videogame to feature storylines from the critically-acclaimed film Marvel’s The Avengers and its hit sequel Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, as well as playable content based on additional Marvel Studios blockbusters, including Marvel’s Captain America: The First Avenger, Marvel’s Iron Man 3, Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World and Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

The game comes packed with content. There will be over 200 characters to unlock, 100 of who have never been featured in a LEGO game ever before. Many classic and ‘old school’ comic book characters have also been added. While many people may say, “Who the hell is that?” others will be saying, “I cannot believe they added that person!” Regardless, the game is universal in its appeal.

“Both the LEGO and Marvel brands appeal to fans of all ages through a multitude of retail, media and interactive channels,” said Peter Phillips, EVP/GM, Interactive & Digital Distribution, Marvel Entertainment. “With the incredible success of LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, focusing on Marvel Cinematic Universe characters and stories in LEGO Marvel’s Avengers was a natural fit for fans and the business.”

If you are looking for another LEGO adventure, something to play with your kids, or if you are purely just a huge fan of the Avengers, then LEGO Marvel Avengers will not disappoint!

Story of Seasons Still Taking Up my Time

Story of Seasons Still Taking Up my Time

I’ve written a review, diary entries about my game play, and other articles. In each, I’ve raved about my experience. It’s Harvest Moon but not Harvest Moon. Harvest Moon as a franchise has gone in ways that I’m not a fan of, but Story of Seasons has brought that feeling back, but with a different name. My in-game play time clock is slowly inching towards 100 hours and I’ve now played many years.

I’m still not bored, and this is saying a lot for a game that should have a shorter life span. But something about taking care of my farm, finding expensive and rare gems, and talking with town folks keeps me playing day after day, week after week. Frankly, I am of the opinion that Story of Seasons really didn’t receive enough love when it launched, and that perhaps, too few people actually dove into what this game had to offer.

Get it. Really, if you love this type of game – whether life simulation or farm simulation – there is so much to enjoy. You can expand your farm, build extra barns, diversify your crops, upgrade your house, create seeds, and so, so, so much more. You can run a successful store down in town, compete with locals for extra crop plots, and take trips to the safari.

Do yourself a favor. If you can find a copy of Story of Seasons and begin playing. You won’t regret it!

Live or Digital Dealer: Which Strategy Works Best?

Live or Digital Dealer: Which Strategy Works Best?

The surging popularity behind these games might come as no surprise to those who are drawn to online sites for the similarity they have to play in brick-and mortar-game rooms.

For those who are new to live dealers, however, you may be asking yourself which one is better: digital dealers or live dealers? Diving into details about online dealer games, the answer is more complex than simply choosing one or the other.

Know Where You Play

Picking the online casinos you play on and being knowledgeable about the kind of software, security like the Trustly casinos offer, and reputation they have is the first decision you should be thinking about before you start to weigh the differences between dealer types. Depending on where you play it can put you at a disadvantage, just like at any in-person gaming hall.  A little research will go a long way when searching for a gaming site to call home.

Authority Approval

Depending on which country and region you live in, there will be a recognized organization or board of authority that reviews and publishes opinions on online casino sites that helps users make informed decisions about where to play. They look at a variety of criteria, issue licenses that allow gambling businesses to operate, and are one of the biggest steps an online casino must take in establishing their reputation as a safe establishment. For recommendations on sites that will offer the best in dealer software and that you can rely on, check with your local regulatory authority.

Secondary Services

Another green flag for online gambling sites is signs of a good customer service foundation. This is one of the criteria that regulatory authorities will examine, but players can also look on the sites themselves and see what kind of contacts they offer. Some less reliable sites will have one customer service line that is open only a few hours a day, and if you have a problem claiming winnings or dealing with a locked account you may never be able to get a hold of them.

It’s much more reassuring to see an online casino that has live customer service chat, a phone-service that is open twenty-four hours a day and seven days a week, and the option to e-mail. You can also check reviews and see what other customers have to say. If there’s a frequent issue with contacting customer service representatives, choosing between a digital dealer and a live dealer will be the least of your worries further down the road.

Dealer’s Choice What it comes down to when choosing whether to play with a digital dealer or a live dealer is not a difference in strategy, but a difference in personal choice. The odds won’t be stacked against you if you tend to play one way or the other, but you may find one method to be more convenient or more fun depending on what your preferences are.

Quick Draw

Live dealers use video streaming and chat capabilities to keep the game rolling, whether you’re trying your hand at baccarat or Blackjack. For players at home, this means placing your bets requires a consistent internet connection or you may risk frequent game interruptions. Because of this real-time style of play, this also means gameplay can be a little slower than digital games. Of course, these could be drawbacks for the speedsters with little patience or mobile players with shaky wifi.

Promotional Advantage

Another potential drawback of live dealers is that many sites don’t allow general site bonuses to be used on live games. Often, these games are reserved for real money only, so you really have to keep your eye out for special promotions if you want to try a low-risk hand at playing with a live dealer.

The Real Thing

Ultimately, the quality that sets live dealers apart from digital gameplay is how it feels. Players can enjoy the sensation of being there on the casino floor, comfortably socializing with the convenience of never having to leave their home or deal with the stress of, well, the casino floor. Especially for some amid Coronavirus concerns and reopenings.

Live dealer streaming continues to grow in demand and as technology improves the games can only get better. Online casino sites aren’t just about slots and digital poker anymore; this is an industry that has proven it can adapt with the times and it will continue to do so.
